Dentist Upper Marlboro, MD - David W Stover D.D.S.

Welcome to David W Stover D.D.S.

We would appreciate the opportunity to invite you to become a patient in our dental practice.  We are located 2 miles outside the Washington Beltway on Pennsylvania Avenue.  Parking is free and is directly in front of our office condominium.  We welcome and are accessible to disabled individuals.  Office hours are by appointment Monday through Thursdays from 9 am to 5pm.  Our philosophy is to treat our patients the same as we would treat our families.

There are several things that distinguish our practice from other dental offices in our region.

Since 2003 our staff has been recognized by Washington Checkbook Magazine as one of the top Dental Practices in the Washington, Maryland, and Virginia areas.  We are very proud of this distinction and strive to continue to provide the excellent care and service for which we have been recognized.

After graduating from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1980, Dr. Stover spent a year at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital as a general practice resident.  Much work was surgical involving head and neck cancer and the reconstruction assoicated with those patients.  Certification in Implantology was received in 1986.  Since 2003 Dr. Stover and staff have also practiced geriatric oral medicine at the veterans home in Southern Maryland and other retirement facilites in Southern Maryland. Beginning in 2010 Dr. Stover has joined the faculity at the University of Maryland Dental School in the advanced general dentistry residency program. He lectures in geriatric oral medicine and injection techniques.  All of our staff members are board certified in their respective areas of Dentistry.  Unique training coupled with an excellent staff enable our team to treat a wide variety of conditions frequently requiring multiple providers.  This includes all routine dental procedures as well as surgical, endodontic, prosthodontic, TMJ/TMD, occulsion, dental sleep medicine, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.  Of course, referrals to top specialists are provided as well.

Our practice strongly believes that the mouth is realted to the health of the total body.  Many diseases can be detected in the mouth before they become evident elsewhere in the body.  We screen all patients for head and neck cancer, sleep disorders, acid reflux, sinusitis, diabetes, thyroid disease, heart disease, osteoporosis, and dermatolgic conditions at every examination. Integrating dentistry with medicine in this manner benefits our patients and serves to maximize overall health.

Our practice emphasizes  that geriatric dental patients needs are different then other patients. We have developed specific protocols to treat the unique needs of geriatric dental patients. We are also certified by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners to provide continueing education to hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and dentists in geriatric oral medicine.

Our desire is to provide dental care to the best of our abilities.  We seek to provide current and relevant information to our patients and to encourage our patients to ask questions so that they can make the best and informed treatment choices for their care.  Our philosophy is to treat our patients as we would treat our families, and to be  satisfied with nothing less than we would want for our families.

We would appreciate the opportunity to help you improve and maintain your overall dental and systemic health.  Please call our office to find out more about a prescription mouthwash that may provide resistance to airborne pathogens including virus and bacteria.  This may provide patients with decreased incidence of flu, cold and sinus conditions.  We have had very good success with this product reducing the incidence of upper respiratory infections with our patients.
